In 3A, we are learning about the Space Race. The Space Race was a competition between Russia and America, the winner was the country with the first person on the moon. We have learnt that the first living creatures in space were fruit flies, sent by the Russians. Then the Russians sent a monkey called Albert and a dog called Laika. The first people on the moon were Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong from America.
In year 3 we are learning about space. We did a timeline from V2 to Tim Peake and a front cover with lots of space words. I found out that fruit flies were sent to space with a supply of corn to eat. I also learnt Albert the monkey was sent to space in V2. I have been looking forward to this topic since year 2.
Today we learnt about sharks. We did a test on them and learnt an interesting fact that whale sharks have small teeth so they can’t kill anyone. They do not have sharp teeth so feel free to travel with them in the deep sea on their brilliant adventures. By Ollie in year 4
This term year 5 are reading and learning about Kenzukes Kingdom by Michael Morpogo.

At the end of the Summer term, Mrs. Olson (senior teacher from Lostock College) and her Year 10 French students, came to work with the Year 5 pupils. After introducing themselves, the students practised asking and telling the time with the children, who thoroughly enjoyed the activities and interacting with the students. A big thank you to Mrs . Olson and Year 10!
