Davyhulme A-team in the Trafford ESFA Tournament By Hallam

Group stages

Davyhulme vs Abbotsford

Our first match in the group stages was against Abbotsford. We were feeling nervous about this match because Abbotsford had been very good last year. Luckily, we got off to a good start with three goals coming in quick succession and lots of close shots from Alex. 3-0 the final score.

Davyhulme vs Seymour Park

The next match was against Seymour Park these were a good side worthy of winning. We battled hard but didn’t take our chances. Consequently, the final score was 0-0.

Davyhulme vs Kings Road

With two more matches to go we needed a win and we got one in style! Four classy goals from Alex and one from Kieran put us 5-0 up against Kings Road. Not to mention some superb defending from Hallam, Jake and Joe that kept us in the game. We soon realised that if we got the ball up to our midfield and strikers we would get goals so that’s what we did. Final score 5-0.

Davyhulme vs Seymour Park

There was one game remaining so we decided to play it safe. With Josh pushing back to help the defence we coped comfortably. With this tactic our attack didn’t push their goalkeeper much. Nathan played really well and Dominic made some great saves. The final score was 0-0 and this was enough to put us through top of the group on goal difference.

Davyhulme vs St Hughs

In the semi-finals we played St Hughs they were a tough team and we knew we would have to work hard to beat them. They had a run of chances at the start but couldn’t score. The best of our chances came when Alex hit the post, no goals came so we went onto extra time. We kicked off but Hallam’s pass was intercepted they broke quickly and efficiently and a bullet shot from their number ten won them the match. Final score 0-1. They went on to lose in the final against St Marys on penalties.
