Our Ladys vs Abbotsford Match Report by Callum from Our Ladys

As we are about to go into the winter break, Our Lady’s entertained Abbotsford in a mouthwatering encounter. Our Lady’s were looking to climb the league ladder with a win over a tough challenge from Abbotsford.

Our lady’s started the game poorly as they conceded an early goal due to feeble defending .Despite all the impressive football we played, we just couldn’t find the net. Abbots ford pounced on all our mistakes and scored again. A couple of minutes after that, Our Lady’s goal machine Sean scored a great goal from a couple of yards just in front of the half way line. Our Lady’s equalised with another cracking goal from the netbuster Sean. Just before half time a costly error led to Abbotsford regaining the lead 3-2.

Our Lady’s made two subs which had a big impact on the game. As we played some fantastic football we scored directly from a corner by one sub, James. Finally Our Lady’s took the lead with some sublime skill from Patrick taking it past the keeper and nonchalantly finished. Super Sub, Ryan, picked the ball from the half way line and beat two players before whipping the ball into the back of the net. A couple more changes were made for Our Lady’s and then Sean took a shot from the edge of the box but the Goalkeeper did a wonderful save but Callum was there to follow it up. Straight after that they played superb football and they slotted it in the back of the net. There was a couple of minutes to go Sean buried it for his third goal for his hat-trick. The thrilling game finished wi th the score at Our Lady’s 7 Abbotsford 4. Our Lady’s player Ryan was awarded with Man of the Match after his massive impact on the game.

We tweeted this match report to one of the best football journalists in the country – Henry Winter! He writes for the Daily Telegraph and also the Sunday Telegraph. We were so happy when he tweeted us back after reading it! Just goes to show the power of Twitter and how this can inspire a child as Callum now believes he can be ‘a football writer,’ when he grows up!
