Talent show 2012

Today the juniors (and class 1A) thoroughly enjoyed the X Factor style Talent Show! As always we proved that DAVYHULME HAS TALENT!!

We had singers, dancers, comedians, musicians and martial artists. All the children loved watching and encouraging each other to perform in front of the whole school.  A massive well done to all the acts who showed tremendous courage to perform. A fantastic way to let our wonderful Christmas dinner settle and a special thanks to the kitchen staff who provided an excellent dinner.

Of course one of the highlights for the children was the annual Teachers entry for the talent show which this year was provided yet again by Mr Parkinson and Mr McGrath. For all those who want to see it again here it is:

To make the talent show more like the popular talent shows on TV, Class 6A used to iPads to make some interesting animations. Using the app iFunFace, which has had a recent update to let you animate more than one character, is an app I have used previously – click here. It is a superb app to encourage speaking and listening, role play and understanding of a character. We were able to download pictures of judging panels from such shows as X factor, Britain’s got talent, Strictly come dancing and the voice. They then animated their pictures and created videos that we could play after every act at the talent show. Here are some examples:

Class 6A make their own TV judges panel animation from Davyhulme Primary School on Vimeo.

Mr Parkinson also used another app when hosting this year’s talent show. HippoRemote is an app that turns your iPad/iPhone into a wireless keyboard and mouse for your PC. Therefore Mr Parkinson was able to play music and the judges comments all through his iPad without having to touch his PC. This is a superb presentation tool meaning any presentation can be shared without having to be sat at the PC being used! Well worth a look!!!
