Using iPads to orally plan our writing

This week Class 1A have been writing a report all about an imaginary world that people could stay and visit.

Mr Parkinson tried to find to find some pictures that could help us with our imaginary land of Candy World by sending this tweet.

After receiving some amazing suggestions, Mr Parkinson then put together a presentation using Explain Everything. Creating almost a writing frame by adding images and discussion prompts, Mr Parkinson made a presentation which he then exported into Dropbox. The children then imported the file on the iPads they were working on, and we started discussing the text.

Slide by slide we looked at which part of the text it was and what we needed to include in our writing. We then practised with our partner what we would write and then recorded ourselves orally discussing our text. We then moved on to the next slide. Taking it a slide at a time, sharing ideas and having our teacher model an example meant that the children gradually built up some fantastic videos which they could then listen to as they start to write up their information text.
