Class 1Y2 today used the iPads to sort and classify different animals.
I decided to use the app Doodle Buddy for the children to sort data using a Carroll Diagram. I have previously used the app Doodle Buddy for handling data when the class made their own pictograms – see the example here.
The app allows you to add your own background from your camera roll. There are then tools to draw or even stamp.
I made a blank carroll diagram, which for older children, they could make themselves. This could be made on pages and a screenshot taken, or on powerpoint, saved as a jpeg and uploaded onto dropbox.
The children then used the stamps of all the different animals and sorted them to the rules. This could be used in so many different ways as text can be added as well as shapes. Here are some examples:
