The Premiership starts again this week and I’m sure many of the children will be very excited. At Davyhulme we have a lot of children who play, support and enjoy football. The question is, how can we use this enthusiasm to develop our children’s learning?
This year Davyhulme will be starting its own fantasy football league, we hope to try and involve as many children to enter a team and help develop their ICT, Numeracy and PSHCE to name a few. The advantages of using this within education is it enables young people to gain a greater understanding of management issues including budgetary control, decision-making and analysis through the world of Premier League football.
Therefore we want as many children to sign up to http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ instructions on how to set a team up is on there, you will need a email address to sign up. Once you have signed up you will need to join the DAVYHULME PRIMARY LEAGUE the code is: 1335937-352642, we will reward children every month who finishes on top and prizes for the overall winners.
We also had a visit this past year from the author Tom Palmer, who writes books with a sports focus especially football. He has recently written an article about how using the start of the football season can encourage children to read. You can read the article here.
I always would be very interested to know if there are any children who can complete the Premier League Reading Stars Online Challenge
