Year 3 show what they know about the Evacuation

This half term, Year 3 have been learning about the Second World War, with a specific focus on the Evacuation.

Today they used the app iMovie to share everything they have learnt so far.

They first started by noting down some facts they already knew and then researched some websites to find more information.

Once they had enough information,  they saved some pictures of the evacuation to accompany their facts.

They then used the app to add the photos, add text, add music and then record themselves narrating over their pictures. It was a great way to incorporate different skills and helped the children really digest all the different information they had researched and learnt in the last few lessons. Having to orally explain and discuss the evacuation definitely helped the children retain the information better and they thoroughly enjoyed their finished efforts:

  1. Hello Year 3 class.

We are a year 3 class at Culvers House Primary School and would like to welcome you to our school blog. We have seen your blog and we think that it is interesting. We are learning about dinosaurs this term in our International Primary Curriculum unit, Footprints from the Past. Our other units this year were the Active Planet, Shaping UP and Saving the World – Rainforests. We are looking forward to reading all your messages and will soon be leaving a reply.
    Yours faithfully
    The University of Oxford.

  2. Amazing work – well done! I am so impressed. You have inspired me to use this app with my year 3 class. You have set a high standard.
