Mount Vesuvius

Mount Vesuvius is a famous mountain in Pompeii. It erupted on 24th August 79 AD and the eruption left thousands of bodies. It carried on all night with winds at 70 mph. This is an astonishing speed for pumice and gas and caused many people to flee or die. Looters tried to sneak into the homes that had been fled from in search of goods easy to sell although there was not much point. Pliny, the younger wrote a letter stating the death of his uncle, also named Pliny. He explained his uncles doings and described what happened.
