What a fun day we had on World Book Day! All the children (and staff) entered into the spirit of things by dressing up as a character from a favourite book. We enjoyed special assemblies in the Infants and the Juniors, where staff shared extracts from some of their favourite stories. We also had a competition for the best costume in each class – it was a very hard decision as the costumes were fantastic! During the day, the junior children came and read with the infant children which everyone really enjoyed. In the afternoon, some of our parents and grandparents came into school to share a favourite book and to read with some of our children. It was wonderful to see so many parents and grandparents in school and the children really enjoyed this experience too. Finally (!), we had a cafe and cake sale in the Infant Hall. This was a huge success and we raised lots of money to buy new books for our school libraries. A big thank you to all our parents, grandparents, children and staff for your fabulous support!
