Live Stream of Saxophone assembly

Today, after 10 weeks of lessons the Year 5 had their Saxophone assembly!

We decided to trial a live broadcast of the performance for any parents who couldn’t make it into school. Mr Parkinson has been hard at work looking at ways to do it, you can read his findings here.

Unfortunately our first plan was to use Ustream to broadcast it however our network wouldn’t allow it so therefore we used a google hangout. To broadcast it to the public we had to use a PC and use the youtube add on that create a live stream of the hangout. The iPad was used as a webcam for the computer and it worked! It wasn’t the best quality and the sound was a little disjointed in parts but I think that was down to the lack of WiFi reception in the hall, hopefully if we can rectify that by maybe adding a access point, the broadcasts maybe clearer in the future. We are hoping to trial this in the infant hall to see whether the WiFi is stronger and therefore provide a clearer picture. But for anyone who missed the performance here it is:
